Saving money on the farm

In chick rearing, heat saves money. The less food a chick needs to maintain its body temperature, the faster it puts on weight. And with LPG costing a fraction of the price of electricity, it’s no wonder that more and more farmers are saving money by raising chicks with Shell Gas LPG.

With LPG there is no risk of a power cut or voltage reduction, no fuel residue, no need to replace heat lamps. A direct fired heating system powered by Shell Gas is far more efficient than an indirect fired system fuelled by oil.

Unlike indirect fired oil systems and electricity, LPG provides moist heat – the kind that chicks need for a stress free environment. Maintain the correct ambient temperature and you will quickly notice much faster growth with more even feathering.

LPG is both clean and controllable, precisely directing warmth at shelf level. Heaters are suitable for both open and enclosed areas and can provide precise temperature control, from a brooding temperature of 31-32 degrees Celsius down to a temperature of 21 degrees.
